Mpumalanga Taxi Boss Joe ‘Ferrari’ Sibanyoni Arrested in Extortion Case

Prominent Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni has reportedly been arrested in connection with an extortion investigation. According to police, Sibanyoni and two other suspects were taken into custody by organised crime officers on Tuesday morning, while a fourth suspect is still being sought.  The case is linked to alleged extortion charges opened in 2025, with reports claiming a businessman in the mining sector was allegedly targeted for millions of rand. Authorities say the suspects are expected to appear before the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga.  Sibanyoni, widely known as “Ferrari” because of his flashy lifestyle and luxury cars, has often been linked to controversy surrounding taxi violence, organised crime allegations and the so-called “Big Five” cartel. Petrol Price Hike Sparks Frustration Across South Africa

Image
Fuel prices in South Africa have once again increased, and the reaction from motorists has been swift and frustrated. For many citizens already dealing with the rising cost of living, this latest petrol hike feels like yet another financial blow. Commuters, small business owners, and everyday workers are among those most affected. Higher fuel costs don’t just impact drivers at the pump—they ripple through the economy, pushing up transport fares, food prices, and delivery costs. For someone earning a fixed income, even a small increase per litre can make a noticeable difference over the course of a month. Public sentiment has largely been negative, with many taking to social media to voice their concerns. Some are calling for government intervention, while others are simply expressing fatigue at the constant price adjustments. While global oil prices and currency fluctuations are often cited as the main reasons behind these increases, that explanation offers little comfort t...

Why Discipline Beats Motivation Every Time

Image
Everybody loves motivation. That feeling when you’re hyped, ready to change your life, ready to grind… it feels powerful. But here’s the truth—motivation is temporary. One day you’re on fire. The next day? You don’t feel like doing anything. You’re tired, distracted, maybe even doubting yourself. That motivation you were depending on? Gone. And that’s exactly why most people never make it. Because they only move when they feel like it. Now let’s talk about discipline. Discipline doesn’t care about your mood. Discipline doesn’t wait for the “perfect moment.” Discipline shows up on bad days, not just good ones. It’s waking up when you don’t feel like it. It’s working when nobody is clapping for you. It’s staying consistent when results are still invisible. That’s the difference. Motivation will start your engine. Discipline will drive you to your destination. Look at people who are winning in life—they’re not always motivated. They just don’t stop. They built routines, habits...

South Africans Brace for Another Fuel Price Shift

Image
South Africans are once again keeping a close eye on fuel prices as expectations grow for another petrol and diesel price adjustment. With transport costs already placing pressure on households, any increase at the pumps quickly affects daily life. Fuel prices are influenced by several factors, including global oil prices, the strength of the rand against the US dollar, and government fuel levies. When international oil prices rise or the rand weakens, local fuel prices usually follow. Taxi commuters, delivery drivers, and small business owners often feel the biggest impact first. Higher fuel costs can also lead to increased food prices, as transport expenses rise across supply chains. Many motorists are now looking for ways to save money by reducing unnecessary trips, using fuel-efficient driving habits, and planning travel more carefully. As South Africa waits for the official update, many families are hoping for relief rather than another increase. Fuel remains one of th...

Fuel Prices Set to Rise Again in South Africa

Image
South African motorists could soon feel more pressure at the pumps, as the latest projections point to another fuel price increase in May 2026. Early data suggests petrol prices may rise by as much as R2.60 to R3.00 per litre, reversing the temporary relief seen in April. In an effort to cushion consumers, the government introduced a temporary R3 per litre fuel levy reduction in April. This helped stabilise petrol prices at around R23 per litre inland, but the relief is expected to come to an end soon—opening the door for sharp increases. The main drivers behind the rising fuel costs remain high global oil prices and a weaker rand, both of which continue to impact South Africa’s import costs. Ongoing geopolitical tensions have also added pressure to the global oil market. If current trends continue, petrol prices could climb even higher in the coming months, affecting transport costs, food prices, and everyday living expenses.
